ROOTS 2 RUNWAY: Black Culture & Fashion Expo

This Black History Month, Market Row becomes a runway for one day only. ROOTS 2 RUNWAY is a free, all-day celebration of Black culture, fashion and South London creativity, bringing together independent designers, makers and performers in the heart of Brixton.

On Sunday 25 October, discover the work of South London’s Black designers and creatives, see their collections brought to life through fashion, styling, movement and storytelling, and shop directly from the people behind the labels.

– Live music from The Handson Family, Leslie Michel, Melvina Moves and Pete Mello
– Shopping from the designers and Market Row’s Black-owned independents, including Chinakwe, ÀṢẸ BOUTIQUE, Uptown Yardie, CHÉ REID and A Celebration of Demonstration

3:10pm to 4:40pm – Creative presentation: models bring the designers’ work to life on the runway

ROOTS 2 RUNWAY is curated by Brixton Creative Collective with the Market Row working group, hosted by Market Row and supported by Brixton BID. It grew out of a shared ambition to create a lasting platform for Black-owned fashion and lifestyle brands in the place that helped shape them, and this inaugural event is the first chapter.

Market Row is two minutes’ walk from Brixton Station, with entrances on Coldharbour Lane, Electric Lane and Atlantic Road. Make a day of it with lunch or dinner at more than 100 independent traders across Brixton Village and Market Row.
