Carnival of Resistance: Notting Hill Carnival Book Launch | 20 August

Brixton Village hosts a special evening marking the launch of Wayne Campbell’s Carnival of Resistance, a book celebrating the spirit and history of Carnival. Expect live music, a Notting Hill Carnival-season soundtrack and a warm community atmosphere as Brixton gets ready for the August Bank Holiday.

Carnival of Resistance is Wayne Campbell’s fourth photography book and his first collaboration with talented visual activist Wayne Crichlow. Moving beyond a mere historical record, this publication captures Notting Hill Carnival as a lived experience—an exploration of energy, creativity, and communal defiance. The book features contributions from leading cultural voices, including Ishmahil Blagrove, Mykaell Riley, and Darrel Blake.
